The Instagram Takeover of „The AI Art Magazine“ was dedicated to the topic of “New Objectivity”, which I had been working on intensively for some time.

“New Objectivity” is an art movement that emerged in Germany in the 1920s. It covered many areas of art (literature, painting, photography, dance), but also design and architecture. Famous representatives were, for example, the photographers August Sander and Karl Blossfeld or the painters Otto Dix and Lotte Laserstein.

Straight, clear and distanced

For me, this art movement is very relevant today, 100 years later, because now as then, we find ourselves in a time of great unrest and major change. AI is part of these transformations. The sober, clear and distanced approach of the new objectivity helped me a lot not to be overwhelmed by the many new experiences.

An objective future

Maybe people are tired, sad or disillusioned and maybe that’s good. Maybe it's better than self-optimization, self-perfection and self-overexertion.

August Sander’s iconic work portrays people of his time in a candid and matter-of-fact style. His photos served as inspiration for these futuristic motifs.
